Solid Ground Curing Solid Ground Curing (SGC) is similar to SLA prototyping. Both use ultraviolet light to harden photosensitive polymers. SGC cures an entire layer at a time by first spraying photosensitive resin on the platform. In SGC prototyping, a photomask of the entire layer is developed. The photomask is printed on a glass plate similar to a photocopier. When the mask is exposed to UV light, the light shines through only the open areas of the mask. Therefore, only the underlying exposed area will be hardened to create the layer. Wax is used to support the model and is removed for the final prototype.
This is a basic overview of solid ground curing prototyping technology. For more information, please review our article on rapid technology prototyping.
